چکیده

Abstract Background Recent cardiovascular outcome trials have shown significant reductions in major (CV) events with glucagon-like peptide (GLP)-1 receptor agonists. Additionally, adjunctive surrogates for risk validated by some studies include arterial stiffness and endothelial function indexes. To date, no randomized trial has addressed the possible effects of antidiabetic interventional drugs such as GLP1 agonists on indexes surrogate markers vascular damage. Aims We aimed to evaluate metabolic efficacy endpoints once-weekly dulaglutide (1.5 mg) plus traditional treatment compared alone subjects type 2 diabetes. Methods Men women (aged ? 50 years) established or newly detected diabetes whose HbA1c level was 9.5% less stable doses up two oral glucose lowering without basal insulin therapy were eligible randomization. Subcutaneous initiated at full dose mg/day weekly). Arterial (PWV: pulse wave velocity augmentation index) (RHI: reactive hyperaemia evaluated baseline three-month nine-month examination visits. At each visit (at 3 9 months), also glycaemic variables fasting plasma glucose (FPG) lipid total cholesterol, LDL HDL cholesterol triglyceride levels. Results follow-up, treated showed significantly lower serum levels FPG than control conventional therapy. 9-month values mean diastolic blood pressure, BMI, FPG, PWV higher RHI Conclusions Our that 1.5 subcutaneous favourable associated positive health markers. These findings are consistent previous study indicating strict relationship between factors systolic

Efficacy and safety of dulaglutide monotherapy versus metformin in type 2 diabetes in a randomized controlled trial (AWARD-3).

OBJECTIVE Compare the efficacy and safety of monotherapy with dulaglutide, a once-weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist, to metformin-treated patients with type 2 diabetes. The primary objective compared dulaglutide 1.5 mg and metformin on change from baseline glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) at 26 weeks. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This 52-week double-blind study randomized patients to subcutaneo...

Effect of Aerobic Exercise on Blood Pressure of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Hypertension is one of the prevalent and dangerous complications of diabetes mellitus. As it is difficult to control hypertension, the necessity of using new techniques such as non-pharmaceutical methods and complementary therapy increased. This study aimed to determine the effect of aerobic exercise on the blood pressure of patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This study was a ...

Effect of Bedtime Melatonin Administration in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Triple-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Randomized Trial

Melatonin is widely available as over the counter product. Despite promising effects of melatonin supplementation on glycemic control, there is a significant heterogeneity between studies. The current study aimed at determining the effect of melatonin on fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin resistance/sensitivity indices, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and high sensitivity C-reactive prot...
